TikTok Won’t Download? Check These Things First

A downloader failure does not always mean the website is broken.

A downloader failure does not always mean the website is broken.

The problem can come from the URL, post status, browser, connection, file permissions, changes on TikTok, or the media processing step.

Use the checks below in order.

1. Make Sure the Link Can Be Opened

Paste the link directly into a browser.

If TikTok itself shows that the post is unavailable, the downloader probably cannot retrieve its media either.

2. Copy the Link Again

Use TikTok's official menu:

Share → Copy link

Avoid copying a URL that has been cut off from a chat or caption.

3. Check Whether the Post Is Private

If the post is available only to certain users, SSSTikTok is not intended to bypass that access control.

4. Check Whether the Video Has Been Deleted

A saved URL does not guarantee that the media still exists.

If the creator deletes the post, the file can stop being available.

5. The Story May Have Expired

Stories are different from ordinary videos.

If a Story is no longer active, the old link may no longer produce media.

6. Reload the Page

Refresh the browser and try one more time.

This can help if the previous request failed because of a temporary connection issue.

7. Disable Script Blocking for Testing

Some extensions or very strict privacy settings can block JavaScript required by the page.

Do not disable your device security completely.

Simply test whether a particular extension is causing the page function to stop working.

8. Try Another Browser

If the button works in Chrome but not in a particular browser, the problem is likely related to the browser or its local configuration.

9. Check the Connection

An unstable connection can cause processing to stop before results are available.

Try another network if possible.

10. Video Opens in a New Tab

This can be browser behavior rather than an error.

Use the Save or Download option on the media.

11. File Was Downloaded but Cannot Be Found

Check your browser's download history.

Then open the Downloads folder.

On iPhone, use the Files app.

12. Results Show Only Some Options

Not every post provides the same media choices.

Do not assume that every video will have MP4, MP3, multiple quality levels, and a no-watermark option at the same time.

“Invalid Link” Message

Make sure the URL comes from TikTok.

The downloader should not try to process:

  • Profile links
  • Search URLs
  • URLs from other sites
  • Ordinary text
  • Or broken links.

“Media Not Found” Message

This can mean:

  • The post is unavailable
  • The media structure is not recognized
  • TikTok changed how it presents the media
  • Or processing failed temporarily.

If the post can still be opened, save the URL and try again after the downloader function has been checked.

When Should a Problem Be Reported?

Report it if:

  • The public link opens on TikTok
  • The URL is valid
  • The problem happens repeatedly
  • And the function still fails in another browser.

When contacting us, include the type of problem and the device/browser you used.

Do not send your TikTok password.

Troubleshooting FAQ

Why do I get an error even though the video is public?

It can happen because of technical changes, media processing, or a temporary disruption.

Can a VPN affect the result?

Network or routing location can affect access to certain services. Test without the VPN if it is safe and appropriate for your needs.

Why does only one link fail?

The problem may be specific to that post.

Should I clear my cache?

Not always. Try refreshing and another browser first.

Do I need to reinstall TikTok?

Not for a browser-based downloader.
